PurePressed Base: The Makeup I Trust for Sensitive Skin

PurePressed Base: The Makeup I Trust for Sensitive Skin

Posted by Leanne Lee, Beauty Mix Studio on May 13th 2026

This week I accidentally combined a few facial products that left my skin in a bumpy, red, irritated mess. I was prepping for a vacation and wanted my skin to look amazing — so naturally, I overdid it. I used a product I was familiar with alongside a new one I'd never tried before, not realizing the active ingredient was glycolic acid. Rookie mistake. Always read the ingredients first.

My skin was angry, textured like an orange peel, and honestly — I wanted to hide.

But I had clients to see and an affiliate video to film, so hiding wasn't an option. I had to show up.

I reached for the product I've reached for nearly 20 years. Jane Iredale PurePressed Base was the only thing I trusted to put on my face without making the situation worse. I knew it would calm the redness and work with my skin, not against it. I applied a little hydrocortisone cream first, then my PurePressed Base — and three days later, I'm on the mend.

This product is my go-to anytime I've stressed my skin. Anytime I want simple, calm, and healing. It's what I reach for on the days I need gentle protection and reliable coverage. It's what I recommended to my nieces when they started wearing makeup for the first time. What I trusted for my daughter — and my son — to cover teenage acne. What I recommend to moms looking for something gentle enough for their 10-year-olds who need stage makeup for dance recitals.

Jane Iredale PurePressed Base and I go way back. I was introduced to this product in July 2015 and opened my salon and spa in Georgia with it as my signature makeup line. It quickly became a staff favorite — from my youngest 21-year-old stylist to my 55-year-old massage therapist. It became everyone's easy. Everyone's reliable.

It holds up to long workdays, Georgia humidity, Texas heat, teenage acne, post-peel recovery, and it's beautiful on mature skin. I could walk you through every ingredient and explain exactly why this formula is so special — but I'll save that for another post.

What I keep coming back to is trust. People call PurePressed Base a hero product. And it is. But what I really mean when I say that is — it's my hero product.
