When You’re Forced to Pause, the Good Gets Louder

When You’re Forced to Pause, the Good Gets Louder

Today wasn’t supposed to look like this.

I had to reschedule client appointments, move a marketing meeting, and set orders aside as my body made it clear I needed rest. Chills, headache, exhaustion — likely the flu — and a reminder that sometimes slowing down isn’t optional.

But in the stillness of being home, the good things had room to speak.

A New Baby, A Strong Beginning

Early this morning, my niece Paige welcomed a beautiful baby girl into our family.

Eloise Grey was born at 7:26 AM on 2/10/26, weighing 6 lbs 7 oz — or “six seven,” as the kids say ?

She arrived on a foggy, grey morning in West Georgia. After laboring all night, my niece delivered a strong baby girl. A beginning that felt poetic in its own quiet way.

That moment was instantly shared in a group text with my sister, mom, daughter, and sister-in-law — women spanning generations, all holding space together. Girls really are special.

Time With the Ones Who Matter Most

This past weekend, I spent time at my daughter’s home with my one-year-old granddaughter, Winnie. We played with new toys, attended story time at the library, and we watched her light up as she soaked in special time with each person who loved her.

Those moments — unhurried, simple, and full of presence — are the ones that linger.

When Women Show Up for Each Other

My heart was also full because of my girl gang — seven women who truly look out for one another.

This morning, one of our friends experienced a sudden dental emergency that required urgent surgery. She needed someone to drop everything and drive her home. Within an hour, one of our group showed up at the dental office to help. Just hours later, she sent a photo of our still-medicated friend resting comfortably in her own bed.

Why This Matters to My Work

This pause reminded me why I love working in the beauty and wellness industry.

It’s an industry led largely by women — caregivers, professionals, business owners — who understand what it means to show up, support one another, and help others feel confident and cared for.

At Beauty Mix Studio, that philosophy shows up in every appointment.

Makeup and skincare aren’t just about how you look — they’re about how you feel: supported, confident, and comfortable being yourself.

And I believe it's why I've been voted Best Makeup Artist for 2023 & 2025. If you would like to vote for me for 2026, I've provided a link here.

Wishing you good health, and friends and loved ones who help you weather life’s storms.
